Media Consultation
In addition to my clinical work with adolescents and their families, I provide consultation to writers, actors, directors, and video game developers to support accurate and compelling depictions of mental health in media (i.e., novels, plays, television, film, video games).
I aim to help creative teams create engaging and ethically-sound stories featuring emotionally-resonant characters who have authentic symptom presentations and motivations.
I offer:
Education on the mental health care system in the United States to support realistic portrayals of mental health care treatment and professionals
Psychoeducation on the symptom presentation of a variety of psychiatric conditions, including anxiety, substance use, and personality disorders
Script/manuscript review and feedback on character development and arcs
Guidance for actors portraying clinicians or individuals with psychiatric conditions
Our work together will begin with an initial consultation during which we will discuss your project, your specific needs, and my consultation approach. Consultation can be charged either by the hour or by package (e.g., 5 hours, 10 hours).
If you are working on a project that involves complex psychological themes or characters and are interested in creating work that resonates deeply with audiences, reach out to hear how my services might be helpful.
Why work with me?
I am a licensed psychologist with over a decade of experience treating adolescents with complex presentations of anxiety, emotion dysregulation, and substance use. I have developed a deep understanding of human behavior over the course of my training and hands-on clinical work. I enjoy media in all forms and see great potential in developing characters and stories that help viewers understand mental health and feel seen.
