Emotion Dysregulation
Some tweens and teens have intense emotions that they struggle to manage in daily life. Inability to manage emotions can contribute to increased conflict with loved ones, shame, and low self-esteem.
I use evidence-based approaches such as dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), and cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) to help my clients increase awareness of situations that are likely to evoke strong emotion, validate their own experience of emotion, and be in the driver’s seat when making decisions about how to react in emotionally-intense situations.
