Therapy with Young Adults

young adult therapy

I work with young adults (approx. ages 20-25) whose anxiety and/or intense emotions are getting in the way of their daily life functioning. My young adult clients have typically been to therapy before, and may have even completed a comprehensive Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) program either in adolescence or early adulthood.

While they may have found therapy helpful in the past, my young adult clients feel that they would benefit from continued support to manage symptoms of anxiety and emotion dysregulation. They also often need support in beginning to trust their own perceptions and needs. I work well with young adults who are interested in being an active participant in maintaining their mental health. Following an initial evaluation, I typically see young adult clients for one 45- or 60-minute session per week. I tend to work with young adults for several years. However, note that therapy is meant to service your personal goals! If you do not want or need years-long engagement in therapy, you will not face pressure to remain in treatment.
